- 22/12/2001) The first stage of the project is gathering information,
planning and contacting media and organisations who may have
an interest in the project.
(15/12/2001
- 11/01/2002) The second stage is to recruit candidates for
the project, including musicians and software operator sfrom
China and the East Midlands. At this stage a database of musicians
will also be built for future projects.
(14/01/2002
- 08/02/2002) The third stage is the testing and rehearsal stage.
It will allow all people involved to get to know each other.
They will also have the chance to practice the technology. The
media and other parties be kept informed of the progress.
(11/02/2002
- 12/02/2002) (from 11:00 GMT) The fourth stage is the event
day, online realtime composition. The event will be watched
by the media in both China and the UK.

- 28/02/2002) The fifth stage is finalising the project, final
mix, produce a report, and prepare for future projects.
As
this is the first project involving so many people,we will try
our best to run the project smoothly. So please be patient and
contact us if you have any queries or comments.
The
trip to China.
The
project organiser and composer Mr. Li Jiang has just returned
from China after a 4 week visit. Mr. Jiang visited Guang Dong,
Beijing, Hong Kong and Shen Zhen. He met many Chinese musicians,
sound engineers, record producers, also state and private studios.
The
main pupose of this trip was to promote the East Meets West
Project and build up long-term relationships with Chinese musicians
for future projects.

Year
2003 and beyond: We have just awarded a three year fellowship
programme from NESTA
(the National Endowment for Scince, technology and the Arts)
to continue the project and build up a "Global Musical
Collaboration Netwrok".
